2/10/2012
After work I caught the Clark Street bus to Best Buy where I bought more memory devices (because the one I usually use is constantly having corrupted files) then to the Lincoln Park bikram studio for the last session of my month-long special which was great.
2/9/2012
I had an expired card good for a free day at the sauna, so I changed the expiration date and it was all good.
2/8/2012
VITA went well except the waiting line of clients coming in was 4+ hours long and I had to wait frustrating amounts of time for reviewers, also I wanted to yell at the tax preparers next to me, "Quit staring at it and enter it into the damn computer already!"
2/7/2012
Gloria called an unnecessary meeting with Elizabeth S. because apparently she doesn't realize that it's awkward, or she's trying to pretend like Elizabeth's job is not in the process of being eliminated even though it couldn't be more obvious.
2/6/2012
I was distraught when I lost my hat that Joe knitted for me, but then I found it thanks to Marge.
2/5/2012
Spent all afternoon with Sheri celebrating her birthday.
2/4/2012
I called my brother to thank him for the gifts he'd sent me and also to tell him to go see Sharon Needles who was performing that night in Oklahoma City's best gay nightclub.
2/3/2012
I stopped by Spin to pick up tickets to see Sharon Needles on my way to my appointment at Chicago Male salon where I told my stylist to make me look like Sharon Needles.
2/2/2012
Sharon Needles Facebook-liked a Facebook-comment that I made on her Facebook-status!
2/1/2012
I came home from work at 1:00p and found that Mr. Fitzsimmons's apartment was being cleared out (presumably by his daughters) then I got a knock on my door and it was a building inspector (and I was so messy and unprepared for any visitor) but we talked about stuff and she noticed the outlet I'd taped up (last July because of bed bugs coming through it) and she, very dramatically, said that me taping up that outlet "might've saved [my] life".
1/31/2012
The escalator I usually take in the morning at the Monroe subway stop was being worked on so I ran up the stairs opposite from it and those arty light garden installations (that usually play tubular bells / classical organ type music) were playing a Michael Jackson song which really put me in a good mood and was a great way to start my day.
1/30/2012
I chose The Call to watch the premiere of Rupauls Drag Race season 4 because I needed to go to the supermarket which is next-door.
1/29/2012
Spent the day (and the whole weekend) being cold, then in the evening after getting home from Queer Dharma my parents called and told me how their weather was in the 70s and they're eating homemade ice cream.
1/28/2012
Went to the supermarket and bought some cookies but other than that I spent the day being a lazy fat slob.
1/27/2012
Work is all right, but it's been better so when the acting CEO called a meeting there was a lot of wild speculation what it might be about.
1/26/2012
I cooked my special vegan casserole and Joe mixed his special red wine & Diet 7UP cocktails.
1/25/2012
Had a lot of fun doing VITA.
1/24/2012
I just could not bring myself to watch The State Of The Union Adress, even after it was posted on Youtube.
1/23/2012
I was fascinated with heroin.
1/22/2012
The Queer Dharma group did contemplative meditation for Mr. Fitzsimmons.
1/21/2012
I went over to Joe's place to drop off a gift I got for him, and the plan was to go out after that but I'd kind of forgotten how I feel when I'm with him, how every cell of my body wants him so bad.
1/20/2012
The police, firemen, E.M.T.s, and other emergency personnel were around for hours, and at 1:00a they left and guys came to board up the windows and door, as well as people from the Red Cross who offered to talk to anyone who might be suffering trauma (which I appreciated but I went to Crew for a little karaoke before they closed, then to one of the 24-hour Mexican food restaurants).
1/19/2012
Got home after work before 6:00p as usual, left home at 7:50 to get to the 8:15 bikram class in Lincoln Park, got back home at 10:30 and there'd been a huge fire in the apartment directly next to mine (the one I share a bedroom wall with) that left it completely destroyed and Mr. Fitzsimmons, my elderly neighbor who I'd heard coughing every single night, died in it.
1/18/2012
Joe and I had our first fight, sort of.
1/17/2012
After midnight I laid in bed not sleeping, but was nonetheless able to get up at 4:00a and go do bikram in the South Loop.
1/16/2012
Watched the fourth hour of a compelling documentary about Harry S. Truman, and slept most of the day.
1/15/2012
Left Joe's place in the morning after having sex then helping him bandage his toes, then went to Sheri's where she gave me a present and we went to Marble, then went to do bikram, then watched the last episode of Dexter season 2, then went to Queer Dharma where Alice asked me to umdze and we discussed The Wisdom Of No Escape by Pema Chodron.
1/14/2012
It was the first time I ever went to the Chicago Bikram Studio in the South Loop and people said that members of The Chicago Bears football team go there sometimes.
1/13/2012
I was in no mood to deal with anything all day long, but Joe had ingrown toenails cut out so he was hobbling around and I went over to his place to help take care of him a little bit.
1/12/2012
It wasn't the first snow of winter, but it was the biggest and most substantial snow.
1/11/2012
The first night of VITA training with CEP at Truman College went well.
1/10/2012
At work, the current acting director called a meeting that was both de-motivational and unnecessary.
1/9/2012
I went to the gym at noon and pondered our inevitable military invasion of Iran, you know, because that's all our country knows how to do.
1/8/2012
Spent hours cleaning, then Joe came over and saw my apartment for the first time and I cooked us waffles.
1/7/2012
Met Virginia at Tiztal for breakfast, then pretty much slept the rest of the day.
1/6/2012
Laura and I went to the zoo and the conservatory, then Joe and I went back to Garcias.
1/5/2012
At noon I went and picked up my goddamn computer after a week, and felt relieved that it was the last night planned for working until 7:00.
1/4/2012
I went to the library and considered checking out Anna Karenina (Joe's recommendation) but it looked like a triceratops sitting there on the shelf with 800 pages, so I checked out Secret Historian (the biography of Samuel Steward written by Justin Spring) instead.
1/3/2012
Joe sent me an e-mail that got me all tingly and excited so when I got off work I went over to his place for a little while.
1/2/2012
Colin cooked a wonderful supper and invited me over with delightful company.
1/1/2012
The regular Sunday night Queer Dharma sitting at The Shambhala Center had been canceled, but I didn't accept that so I made it happen.
12/31/2011
Spent New Years Eve with Joe at his place.
12/30/2011
I called the cops on my neighbors after being awoken at 4:12a by a domestic dispute and witnessing a naked man drag a woman who was yelling "Help me! Help me!" into an apartment.
12/29/2011
At 5:00p I rushed home from work as soon as possible to pick up The Story Of The Little Mole Who Went In Search Of Whodunnit that I'd ordered from Amazon.com, then took my computer for virus removal, and bought pink champagne for New Years at the "spirits" shop across the street.
12/28/2011
I felt anxiety about my relationship with Joe (and the fact that I only had 2 orgasms in 13 days), but I dealt with it in healthy ways.
12/27/2011
I took my laptop (that I got second-hand in 2005 and used until it died in April 2010) to a data recovery company in hopes that my jpegs and mp3s might possibly be recovered from it but they called back just 5 hours later with the results of their free 24-hour diagnostic saying there were a lot of problems so it probably couldn't be recovered and if it could the estimated fee was < $1,300, so it was sad but I said final goodbyes to the idea of seeing those files (mostly all my photos between November 2005 & April 2010) ever again.
12/26/2011
Read The Corrections by Jonathan Franzen for hours until it was finished off.
12/25/2011
Went to Sheri's place to watch opening day NBA games and hoped she would come home but she didn't.
12/24/2011
Joe and I went to Simons Bar and drank some Glogg.
12/23/2011
I had a lot of actual work work to do at work so I was busy busy and co-workers of mine in the office actually asked me whether I was "really" working.
12/22/2011
Joe and I went to see the Gayco Christmas show at Annoyance then we went back to his place and spent the night together.
12/21/2011
My home phone and home computer are both unplugged so I dutifully called my brother on my cell phone (out in the parking lot behind the building where I live since I don't get good cell reception in my apartment).
12/20/2011
Charity Taitt and Erick Deshaun Dorris were the performers at a heavily-attended Homolatte and they were both great, but the one most zany, memorable moment was when the giant parrot puppet came out and surprised everyone.
12/19/2011
Not as bright and cheery as I usually am on Mondays.
12/18/2011
Second Unitarian Church had its "music" Sunday and cookie sale which I attended and recognized a bunch of things about Second Unitarian that I don't like.
12/17/2011
Commemorated Bradley Manning's 24th birthday and the anniversary of Mohamed Bouazizi's death by eating sloppy joes and tater tots with Sheri & Jeff.
12/16/2011
Had a date with a guy named Joe, who, wow, I really like, really really like him.
12/15/2011
Had a date with a guy named Mike at Daily Grill which was really nice.
12/14/2011
Virginia had wanted to show me her favorite restaurant, but sadly it was closed by the health department, so we walked down the street and ate at Kopi instead.
12/13/2011
Since I was working late, I unfortunately decided not to attend the Sex-Positive Film Series that night.
12/12/2011
Was fascinated with body suspension.
12/11/2011
Went to the Church Of Christ and then to the church potluck afterward.
12/10/2011
Tori Amos performed.
12/9/2011
Had fun hanging out at Sidekicks with Jeff & friends.
12/8/2011
Decided that now is the time to purchase that waterbed I've always wanted.
12/7/2011
When Rod Blagojevich was sentenced to 168 months in prison, Margaret in the next cubicle asked me how many years that was (because everyone asks me their math questions) and since it was around lunchtime I went out and walked around the federal building to see the media spectacle.
12/6/2011
Worked late, the first of 2 weeks of working late.
12/5/2011
There was a shoot-out / stand-off at Broadway & Wilson which shut down red-line trains for SIX HOURS!
12/4/2011
Met a guy at Berlin who took me back to his place, then I left his place and went to church where Rudra's sermon was about World AIDS Day which was especially poignant because Rudra's story is similar to my brother (who would've turned 50 that day) except for the dying part.
12/3/2011
Saw Christeene perform / third consecutive night of all-night partying.
